Content Seagroveguy, I'm sorry, that your son is in the situation that he is. Believe me when I say, I've walked in your shoes. My daughter went through a similar episode. When I realized, that my bailing her out, was simply assisting (enabling) her in her downward spiral, I quit and she subsequently found the strength to quit as well. I thought this would never happen, to any of my children. You see, I've been a Police Officer for nearly 30 years. I am not sure who you talked to, or at which agency you reported your findings...BUT I assure you we DO care. We care a great deal. We see, the outcome of many broken lives each day. To understand, why observation of the crime is important..you need to understand "who" can be a witness. If you were willing to be one, then the officer would not have to "actually see it happen", as you wrote. Police Officers are sworn to protect the public and arrest offender's. We can't pick or choose. If your son is serving 4 months for "smoking and driving", then I say HOORAY for the Judge and the Officer who caught him. Thank God someone didn't have to die for your son's mistake. As to the "cash cow"...drug arrests take lot's of tax payer funds, if LE Agencies can confiscate money from dealers, then it lessens the burden on you and I. Do you see a problem with that? Lastly, I did not intend this post to be a slam to you or yours. Remember I am a kindred spirit. But don't blame cops for drug dealers, we didn't spawn them, and remember understanding of the system, helps with communication....Lawman
