Title Do I call DCFS on my friend?
Created Monday, Jul. 20, 2009
Content My best friend is dating a drug dealer, and has a roommate that also sells drugs. Heroin and cocaine. She has a little girl in the house, and her boyfriend has his kids in the house. He also uses. Family and friends have tried talking to her, but she won't leave. Both men have felony drug convictions on their record, and one of them is on parole. The drugs are kept in the house, away from the children, but still in the house. It's only a few grams here and there, but enough for any child to die or for the police to take the kids away. I'm torn, because until she started dating this man again (her daughter's father) she was SO against his behavior. He promises to change and never does, and JUST as she was ready to leave, he switched it up on her. Told her the dealing was over, the using and the drinking would stop. Now it's day one and she's changed her mind about leaving. Her daughter is in SERIOUS jeopardy, as is she. Do I call the police? She will be arrested right along with them, and her daughter will get taken away! Do I continue to inform the family and let them handle it? I don't know what to do. I'm at my wits end with her. This goes against everything I believe in as far as keeping a child safe and being a mother - I don't even want to be her friend anymore.....
